cafe con libros
coffee. tea. books. art. community.

let's collaborate...let's create.

cafe con libros is a feminist community bookstore catering to folks who are book lovers, coffee aficionados, or both.  we aim to provide space for anyone seeking a community of readers and thinkers and, to spread the love of reading as a source of healing and joy.

cafe con libros will also provide community programming to include a book club, book fairs for children and young adults, prison outreach, and when possible, host local artist.

in solidarity with our community, we wish to open our space for use in collaboration with community members in service of broader, collective endeavors.  beginning 1 august 2018, the cost for the use of the space is $50 for two hours.  this contribution is non-refundable.  in addition, we ask that organizers encourage participants to patronize the community space by purchasing coffee, pastries, and/or books to ensure sustainability for the long-haul.

SafeWordSociety Visibility Pack Game Night Hosted by Activist & Storyteller, Ian Fields Stewart

Launched in early 2017, SafeWordSociety has quickly grown from a small Brooklyn-based company to an active community that strives for change, social justice, and inclusivity. We work to spotlight members and allies of our community to ensure that authentic QTPOC+ narratives reach even the most vulnerable among us.

On February 21st, we released the Visibility Pack, a discussion-based card game for safe space discourse. Created by and for queer and trans people of color (QTPOC+), the Visibility Pack serves as a collective learning and engagement tool for discussions surrounding diversity, inclusivity, understanding, and collaboration.

Our first game night will be facilitated by a SWS favorite, Ian Fields Stewart (pronouns: they/them/their). Ian is a black, queer, and mixed-race gender nonconforming New York based storyteller working at the intersection of theatre and activism. A native of Birmingham, AL, their work is centered in deconstructing mainstream media forms and rebuilding them to amplify and include the voices of marginalized people in our local and global communities.

Guests are asked contribute $10 to SafeWordSociety to help us further our mission and amplify our voices.

So be sure to come by Cafe Con Libros for coffee, discussion, empowerment and fun! RSVP at  There's a 15 person cap.
