About the Event
Author Carol Mitchell hosts a conversation between two anthropologists with deep connections to Brooklyn’s Caribbean immigrant communities, Dr. Oneka LaBennett and Dr. Sabia McCoy-Torres. LaBennett will draw from her recent book, Global Guyana: Shaping Race, Gender, and Environment in the Caribbean and Beyond, while McCoy-Torres will share insights from her book, Vibes Up: Afro-Caribbean Migration from Costa Rica to Brooklyn. Both authors will offer vivid examples of cross-cultural exchanges between Brooklyn and the Caribbean.
