ABOUT THE BOOK:
Dr. Kai Marshall Green’s debut memoir, A Body Made Home: They Black Trans Love, explores Black trans love, belonging, identity, and the possibilities of creating home in a world shaped by violence and exclusion.
In this intimate and genre-bending memoir, Green brings together personal narrative, poetry, scholarship, and cultural reflection to explore Black queer and trans life, love, resilience, and the search for freedom. Drawing from their experiences as a scholar, artist, organizer, and member of Black queer communities, Green asks what it means to build a life and a sense of home on one's own terms.
For this special Café con Libros event, Green will be joined in conversation by curator, archivist, and writer Steven G. Fullwood, founder of the In the Life Archive, which preserves materials produced by LGBTQ people of African descent and is housed at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
