I AM THE DREAM COME TRUE is the first picture book by from the now grownup child activist Marley Dias, Founder of the #1000BlackGirlBooks campaign. For context, when Marley was in 6^th grade, she started this campaign as a way to collect children’s books that feature Black girl protagonists into a database since she wanted to read more books where Black girls are the main characters. This brought her national recognition and began her journey as a literacy advocate where she has received many accolades. Her debut picture book focuses on how her family legacy was crafted by the lives and actions of her ancestors. It’s an ode to their sacrifices and a celebration of Marley being their dream realized.
