About the Event
ABOUT THE BOOK:
After graduating from Spelman College (International Black Girl Headquarters), Brown built a career telling stories and celebrating Black womanhood. In her book, she shares the highs and lows of her career, imparts essential life lessons from the Real Housewives of Atlanta, and tells hair tales, including why box braids were the only way to go for her first speaking gig at Essence Fest. The book moves seamlessly between the serious and silly, addressing topics as diverse as:
• Brown’s fateful encounters with celebrities—from dancing in Janelle Monáe’s “Tightrope” music video to partnering with Tracee Ellis Ross to compose odes to natural hair.
• Why someone’s choice to have children or not is no one’s business—and why comments are not welcome.
• How to select the right underwear for your outfit—sometimes Sisqó is right, and your mother is wrong.
