About the Event

Cultura & Cash is a practical and jargon-free money guide to help First Gen Latinas tackle their finances. This book teaches actionable money principles anyone can use to slay their debt, build generational wealth, and help take care of those they love.

About the Conversation Partner:

Jesús Castro (they/them) is a bookseller whose influence and experience span 3 of Brooklyn’s bookstores. Jesus's grassroots approach to the book industry has allowed them to grow into event facilitation and bookstore curation. They use their platform to push forward queer and BIPOC authors who are pushing the boundaries of what’s considered normal.

Jesús is an Indigenous healer with the trans-Andean organization ‘Vivir Sabrosa’ where they use ancestral knowledge to work on queer perspectives to ancestral agriculture and food, indigenous spirituality and medicine, sustainable-ecological arts, the Afro-indigenous legacy of good living, and ancestral-queer liberation as anti-colonial, anti-patriarchal and anti-capitalist resistance.

They are from the Quechua people of the Andes, born in Peru, and raised in the Bronx. As a local New Yorker, they are thrilled to have a platform in bookstores like Cafe Con Libros, Mil Mundos, and The Center for Fiction.
