About the Event
In the course of 2 hours, we invite women who speak Spanish or Spanglish to disconnect from their daily activities and embroider quotes, sayings or proverbs that break with certain patterns of oppression, especially generated from our culture.Â
We will be embroidering monthly, words that uplift us and make us re-evaluate our traditions for future generations. (I believe that many feminist artists and writers are changing the generational narrative, and you can be part of it!) By shifting and embracing difficult words and quotes, we can give even painful phrases a positive approach.
How? We will review Hispanic female writers for inspiration, as well as translating self-care and self-advocate quotes from different resources.Â
No experience hand sewing or hand embroidery needed.
All materials included:Â
Every participant will have a 6 inches embroidery hoop, fabric, and threads to her/their disposition.Â
Follow at IG #MontserratVargasEmbroidery to see more of her work. Â
